The Independent — the off-kilter-styled luxury condo tower — has a groundbreaking scheduled for Monday, January 11, at the construction site near Third Street and West Avenue. The $300 million, 58-story structure will be the tallest in Austin when it’s completed in 2018. Balfour Beatty Construction has secured the general contractor assignment.
